Stand High and Look Far
Details & Dimensions
It is said that the Chinese character for "king" originates from the stripes in a tigers forehead. A homonym for "fortune" in Chinese, the tiger is regarded as the king of the mountains and brings with it wishes of good fortune. The Chinese idiom "Stand High and Look Far" appears next to the tiger, a phrase urging one to have great foresight and plan for the future accordingly or to adopt a broader, long-term view. This embroidered piece illustrates the skill of the artist in the original painting as well as the skill and artistry of the embroiderer in stitching this piece.
