Details & Dimensions
This piece features two, long-tailed red-billed blue magpies, a bird which served as a messenger between the gods and the emperor in Chinese mythology. The appearance of these birds are considered omens of good fortune and longevity. Painted in the style of Song Dynasty paintings, this embroidery perfectly captures the detail in brushstrokes and the subtle colors in the detail of the feathers.
