The Buddha is holding lotus flowers with prayer beads hanging from the stems and the idiom "Harmony is Most Precious" is embroidered alongside. The lotus is a symbol for harmony as the words "lotus" and "harmony" are homonyms in Chinese. A revolutionary classical Chinese essay states: "I love the lotus because while growing from mud, it is unstained". Thus the lotus has become a metaphor for honesty, noble character, and maintaining one's purity even when immersed in an atmosphere of filth or corruption.

Part of a famous series of paintings depicting the Buddha with various proverbs, this embroidered reproduction is an elegant addition which combines the famous painting with traditional silk embroidery techniques, an art piece that showcases multiple forms of Chinese art.
